‘Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will never be a professional’, RCB star tells South Africa great

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is all set to begin in six days and fans are excited to see Rajasthan Royals’ teen prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
Aged just 14, he became the youngest ever centurion in the IPL last year.
Earlier on the #360Show, AB de Villiers sat down for a conversation with India cricketer Jitesh Sharma. Towards the end of the discussion, during a rapid-fire round, Jitesh shared some candid and entertaining responses.
The former South Africa captain was all praise for the young batter, highlighting his maturity and discipline on the field.
He admired how Sooryavanshi carried the same approach from the IPL to international youth tournaments, showing confidence without arrogance.
“He’s a great player. I watched him during the Under-19s. It’s not always easy to maintain the same standards once you’ve tasted IPL and big-league cricket. But I was very impressed with how he played in that World Cup, very professional. He’s incredibly mature for his age,” said de Villiers.
Jitesh, however, added a humorous but honest twist.
While he agreed that Sooryavanshi is extremely talented and capable of dominating world cricket, he questioned his professionalism off the field.
He shared that despite repeated advice, the young batter still indulges in habits like eating ice cream late at night.
“He’s not professional. I can tell you that,” Jitesh said with a laugh. “Everyone is trying to get him to be professional, but I don’t think he ever will be, at least not off the field. On the field, maybe. I’m trying my best. I ask him not to have ice cream at night, but he never listens.”
Fans also admired Jitesh’s humour. One social media user commented, “The advice about ‘not eating ice cream at night’ for youngsters was gold!”
